Details

Anne Birch, one of the quiet but powerful names of Danish cinema and television, was born on 19 May 1945 in Nørresundby. Despite his short career, he managed to leave deep traces both on the screen and in the memory of the audience. The production that made Birch's name known to large audiences was Huset på Christianshavn, which became one of Denmark's most popular television series since the early 1970s. This series, which masterfully reflected the atmosphere of classic Copenhagen, was a production that was ingrained in the cultural fabric of the country, and Birch established his presence in front of the stage on a solid ground with this experience. He took part in various film and television projects in the middle period of his career. 1976's Gangsterens lærling and 1977's Hærværk demonstrated his flexibility in different genres. In the same period, she played the role of Mathilde Fibiger in Det begyndte med Mathilde, based on historical facts; This production, published in 1978, focused on the life of the Danish feminist writer, and Birch added serious sincerity to the character. In the same year, she appeared on stage in the role of Lucretia in Den Vægelsunude, once again revealing her theater-based acting approach. He played the character Bitten Dam in Krigsdøtre, released in 1981. Bitten Dam gave Birch the opportunity to give one of the most mature performances of her career in this powerful production about women trying to survive in social turmoil. His last project, Elise, was released in 1985; Birch took on the role of Henriette in this film. However, while the film was being released, he died on August 9, 1985, at only forty years old. He left behind a legacy that he condensed into just a few years, but each of which has been carefully selected and has its rightful place in the history of Danish cinema.
