Albert Rémy, one of the silent but permanent names of French cinema, was born on April 9, 1911 in Sèvres, Seine-et-Oise. Rémy, who left his mark in both the theater and cinema worlds in his long-term career, experienced his brightest period simultaneously with the golden age of French cinema. The production that made Rémy's name permanent in cinema was undoubtedly François Truffaut's 1959 film The 400 Blows. He gained a solid place for himself in the history of world cinema by portraying the character of Julien Doinel in this film, which is considered the manifesto of the French New Wave. This semi-autobiographical masterpiece of Truffaut made a great impact in Cannes, and Rémy's simple but sincere acting contributed significantly to the emotional texture of the film. In addition, he also appeared in Marcel Carné's legendary film Children of Heaven. This 1945 French classic is considered one of the unforgettable works of world cinema, and Rémy left a permanent mark in this film, too. Later in her career, she starred as Didont opposite Burt Lancaster in John Frankenheimer's 1964 thriller Train. This production, about the period of Nazi occupation, showed that Rémy had proven himself in the international arena. In the same period, Paris brûle-t-il? and It was also brought to the stage in major productions such as Those Competing with Death. He showed a different interpretation with the character of Jupiter in the extended production Notre-Dame de Paris. Albert Rémy, who adopted an unpretentious but powerful understanding of play that penetrated into the characters from the first years he stepped on the stage, produced works in both the classical and modern veins of French cinema.
