Growing up on the streets of Brooklyn, Richard LaGravenese was born in New York in 1959 and over time became one of Hollywood's most original screenwriters. LaGravenese, who has built his career on the powerful stories he has written, is especially known for his works with high emotional depth and centering on human relationships. He made his first big impact in the international arena with The Fisher King, directed by Terry Gilliam. Released in 1991, this fantasy drama was an impressive production that brought together Jeff Bridges and Robin Williams and permanently established LaGravenese's name in the industry. This script earned him an Oscar nomination. The Forbidden Relationship, which he wrote in the following years, was brought to the big screen under the direction of Clint Eastwood and achieved great success both at the box office and was etched in memories with the performances of Meryl Streep and Eastwood.
