Jeunet took his first feature-length step into the language of cinema in 1991 with Delicatessen, which he directed with Marc Caro. This dark comedy, set in a post-apocalyptic world with famine, stood out as an extraordinary production in the French cinema of the period, both in form and content, and introduced the duo's signature to a wide audience. His partnership with Caro paid off once again in 1995. City of Lost Children made a huge splash in the international arena with its gothic tones, striking visual world and allegorical narrative; It revealed what a strong aesthetic vision Jeunet has as a director. Jeunet, who stepped into Hollywood in 1997, directed Alien: Resurrection, the fourth film of the famous Creature series. The fact that a French director was in charge of this giant production attracted attention at the time; The film tried to add a new atmosphere to the familiar line of the series. However, the production that turned Jeunet into a legend all over the world was undoubtedly Amelie, produced in 2001. This film, which envelops Paris in a fairy-tale atmosphere with the unforgettable character played by Audrey Tautou, became one of the most popular productions of French cinema and took Jeunet to the top on an international scale. The director, who turned to personal projects such as Hero Child in the following years, returned to the science fiction genre with Bigbug, which he shot for Netflix in 2022.
