Scott Neustadter

Born in Margate City, New Jersey, Scott Neustadter is a screenwriter who stands out as one of Hollywood's most remarkable writers. Often collaborating with writing partner Michael H. Weber throughout his career, Neustadter has developed a distinctive voice in bringing to film the emotional world of young adults, the complexities of love, and confronting loss. The production that made Neustadter's name known to large audiences was (500) Days of Love, which was released in 2009. Directed by Marc Webb and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, this film broke the traditional romantic comedy mold and received high praise from both audiences and critics for its non-linear narrative. The script that Neustadter and Weber wrote for this film left a serious impact on the independent cinema circles of the period. Following this success, Neustadter also proved himself in cinema adaptations of young adult literature. Adapted from John Green's novel of the same name, Under the Same Star was released in 2014 and achieved strong results at the box office as well as gaining a wide fan base with its emotional depth. A year later, Paper Towns, again adapted from Green's novel, and 2015's The Magnificent Now were among the works signed by Neustadter. In 2016, Me Before You, adapted from Jojo Moyes' bestselling novel, once again demonstrated the screenwriter's mastery in this genre. Neustadter also stepped into the small screen and took part in the production of the series Daisy Jones & the Six, which was released in 2023. This mini-series for Amazon Prime Video, about the world of rock music in the 1970s, received positive reviews from critics. Neustadter's writing continues to maintain its ability to touch the essence of human relations in different formats.
