Imagine the World of centuries from now: vast piles of garbage, abandoned skyscrapers and a small robot working alone in the silence. Directed by Andrew Stanton for Pixar, this film may at first glance appear to be a run-of-the-mill children's animation, but it actually swims in much deeper waters. Vol-i displays an unusual boldness with its first half, which is almost dialogue-free. There are really few animated films that convey the inner world of a character in such an impressive way, relying not on words, but on looks, movements and sounds. This little robot, who hides the treasures he finds at the end of the day with his rusty body, repeatedly watches the hand-holding scene he learned from an old musical movie, manages to describe loneliness and longing for commitment without words. This is precisely what surprises the viewer: realizing how human-like something is within a robot while it cleans everything around it with mechanical precision. The film also offers a remarkably accurate critique of consumer culture, environmental degradation, and blind dependence on technology. But it does this not as a didactic lesson, but through an organic and visual language. The audience receives the message without being forced to understand it; in fact, they can only fully grasp the sadness behind certain scenes after the film ends. With EVE's entrance onto the scene, the story takes on a completely different dimension. The budding relationship between the two robots is essentially a rewriting of a universal myth about attachment and the search for meaning. Instead of sweetening romance with sugar, Stanton prefers to keep it fragile and genuine; this causes emotional moments to hit much harder. Ben Burtt's extraordinary sound design breathes life into the characters. The music choices add a nostalgic warmth while simultaneously evoking a deep melancholy. Works in which technical mastery and emotional depth meet in such a balanced way are rare in the history of cinema. This film, which challenges industry conventions and achieves this without preaching, speaks to both children and adults on different levels.

A must watch, will watch again, and definitely recommend for everyone, all ages. The first 30 minutes or so of this movie are pure and perfect magic. They establish the world, Wall-E, the human race with next to no dialogue. Wall-E and Eve meeting is wonderfully trip of social anxiety in different personalities and a great metaphor for living together while being different. Wonderful. <em>'WALL·E'</em> is beautifully made, despite a relatively simple premise and no real cast to speak of. A big reason for its charm is the strong message and adorable lead characters - WALL·E (Ben Burtt) and EVE (Elissa Knight).
