Iron Lung
Details
Imagine an era when the universe had faded away: no stars, no planets, the sky a mere void. Time has passed since the mysterious disaster that went down in history as "Quiet Rapture," but how much time? And more importantly, why? Directed and starring the long-awaited name of independent horror cinema, Mark Fischbach, this production pulls the audience out of familiar sci-fi patterns and leaves them face to face with the most raw form of cosmic horror. The journey, which begins with a prisoner's desperate loneliness, soon transcends the boundaries of an ordinary exploration story. The submarine named Iron Lung, which lands under a deserted moon covered with a red ocean, turns into a place that tests the mental endurance of both the character and the audience. One of the most striking aspects of the film is how it establishes its claustrophobic atmosphere without ever overdoing it. Narrow gaps, mechanical sounds, the weight created by distance and isolation; none of these are processed with cheap scare reflexes, but with a patient narration. This slow-burning structure may be a trial for some viewers, but the tension accumulated over time turns into an almost physical pressure towards the end of the film. In this world, where the universe itself does not give an answer, where even questioning is dangerous enough, the character is being burned not only from the outside, but also from the inside. The film, which also features well-known voice actors like Troy Baker and Elsie Lovelock in its cast, draws its inspiration from a video game. However, this bond not only did not constrain the structure, but rather endowed it with a unique mythology and visual language. The idea of searching for lost celestial bodies is not a superficial adventure; it is woven into the texture of the film as a philosophical inquiry that pushes the boundaries of mourning, meaning and existence. Dec. For those who are looking for a vague narrative, an ambiguous ending and a world design that leaves more questions than answers, Iron Lung is a candidate to become one of the boldest attempts of the last years of indie horror cinema. The darkness doesn't just begin outside; it begins much deeper, within the spectator's own mind.

The film’s slow burn wouldn’t feel so staggering if it built to something wholly worthwhile. The blood, hallucinations, and sea creature are all great, but they’re too fleeting to make a lasting impact. Iron Lung promises something grand and cosmic, but its climactic reveal is abrupt, with few scares and only a brief glimpse of the monster. Ultimately, it’s two hours of tension that end in a bloody yet unsatisfying climax. https://bit.ly/lungofiron

This time, it’s a “quiet rapture” that has caused mankind’s latest apocalypse, and so for the next couple of hours we spend time with a convict (Mark Fischbach) submersed in a vast and deep ocean of blood. He has been welded into a rust-bucket that has seen better days and with the windows sealed for his safety, he is informed of his mission only by instructions from the surface as he searches for the resources humanity desperately needs to survive. If he fulfils his task, he is to be pardoned a...

Without a doubt a colossal waste of time. Unengaging, scattered writing and zero payoff at the end. We follow a convicted criminal's journey through unknown territory in a steel can with near zero context and simply follow a guy gradually losing his mind in the most uninteresting way, leading the viewer to absolutely nowhere after being absolutely everywhere all at once. If anyone were to ask me if they should watch it, my answer is definitely more direct than the supposed "answer" in the mov...

Interesting but somewhat incoherent Adapting games to movies is hard, and this movie does this better than most. However, the game being adapted is a peculiar one, and it lends its air of peculiarity to the movie as well. It is a tight and spooky premise, and I am sure that if you have played the game you will get more out of it than someone who has not, but it becomes strangely rambling at times, possibly because the underlying narrative is so dense that the adaptation could not quite pierce i...
