On a deserted island where nature ruthlessly imposes its own rules, a being composed of steel and circuit boards learns to love... Although this may seem like a simple children's fairy tale, the world that opens on the screen turns into a deep and jarring experience that speaks to both the little ones and the big ones on different layers. Directed by Chris Sanders, Wild Robot stands out as one of DreamWorks Animation's boldest productions in recent years. Adapted from Peter Brown's children's book of the same name, the film envelops the viewer almost like a painting with its visual language. Each frame is rendered with the depth of an impressionist painting; the shadows of the forest, the change of seasons and the shoreless beauty of nature are carefully transferred to the screen. But its real magic lies far beyond its visual appeal. The robot, which we have named Roz, sets foot on this island programmed with a task description. However, nature is not written in any manual book. Surviving, adapting, and ultimately having to care for someone else... Roz's journey takes shape as this character, who seems to be set on an artificial plane, undergoes a far more human transformation than we realize. The nuance that Lupita Nyong'o adds to the sound is incredible; you can feel a cold machine getting a little warmer in every scene, not only from the lines, but from those shaky pauses, those suspicious silences. The forest dwellers, voiced by names like Pedro Pascal, Kit Connor, Bill Nighy, and Matt Berry, serve as a chorus that balances the film's rhythm. These characters, some funny, some sad, some just trying to survive, represent both the beauty and the brutality of nature. The film questions motherhood, being different, and feeling like you belong somewhere. It addresses not only the issue of adoption and upbringing, but also how identity is shaped by the environment. And they never preach about it; they let everything unfold naturally within the story. For that moment that is waiting for you at the end, when you shake your child's hand or quietly feel something on your seat, the Wild Robot deserves to be one of the most valuable works of the animation world of 2024.

There are times in our lives when nearly all of us exceed the limits of our capabilities (and often quite unexpectedly at that). But that can be a tremendous blessing, especially when we’re confronted by circumstances where such aptitudes are called for. So it is for Roz (Lupita Nyong’o), a robot who inadvertently ends up stranded on a remote island when the vessel transporting her crashes without warning. Roz isn’t alone, though; she finds herself surrounded by a diverse array of forest animals...

Brimming with thoughtful themes and stunning artwork, The Wild Robot is a deeply meaningful new touchstone in animated film. Of course, animation has “heroed” nature before – see The Lion King, WALL-E and basically the entire output of Studio Ghibli. But there’s two core elements to The Wild Robot that set this film apart from the rest. The first is its gorgeous, painterly style. The second? The film’s deeply human themes, encompassing everything from the meaning of motherhood and the last...

"Roz" is pre-programmed to help. Whatever it is that needs doing, it is there to make it happen - even when it is wrecked on an island populated by animals whose main desire in life is to eat each other. At least the arrival of the "monster" manages to galvanise them into one brief moment of hostile unanimity and so when they are not trying to cannibalise it, they are shunning it's efforts to be friends. After spending a year learning their various languages, there follows a calamitous escapade ...

I found myself cleaning my glasses multiple times throughout the movie—not because they were dirty, but because of the overwhelming emotional impact. Truly, this film brought tears to my eyes. Without a doubt, this is one of the finest animated movies in years. DreamWorks has delivered a masterpiece that resonates deeply. It's impossible not to empathize with the story and characters as they unfold so brilliantly on screen. Prepare yourself for an emotional journey that hits like a ton of bri...

<em>'The Wild Robot'</em> is b-e-a-utiful. It all makes for a wholesome 102 minutes, which features not only an endearing story but also fair laughs and mighty heart - it hit me in the feels a fair few times. The animation is splendid, while the music and pacing are good factors too. I did like the moments of relative darkness, in terms of a few jokes and bits that you wouldn't usually see in a flick of this type. As for the cast, Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal and Kit Connor are all ace, while...
