Forrest Gump
Details
Life is sometimes seen in its deepest form through the simplest of eyes. A single feather floating on a river flowing like a trout is perhaps the image that best describes the spirit of this film; it symbolizes that indescribable balance between lightness and Decipherment. This work, which Robert Zemeckis brought to the screen in 1994, presents a photograph of America from the second half of the twentieth century through the eyes of a narrator who is unexpected from everyone. In this character, whom Tom Hanks brings to life, we see how pure goodness and an unwavering inner voice can leave an extraordinary mark. The character does not find the world as complex as everyone else thinks it is; therefore, the world cannot express its familiar jealousy and selfishness towards him. The film goes beyond being merely an individual's life story; it presents the social and political struggles of an era before us as if it were a panorama. The deep scars left by the Vietnam War, the civil rights movement, the Watergate scandal, and the counterculture movements... All this heavy historical burden never becomes a didactic lesson thanks to the innocence of the narrator; on the contrary, it affects the viewer deeply while making him think. Zemeckis tells the great stories of history by walking the delicate line between humor and melancholy; he makes you laugh, then hits you right in the chest. Jenny, played by Robin Wright, is like the conscience and vulnerability of the film. As the paths of the two characters diverge and converge, the tension between freedom and commitment, chaos and tranquility never subsides. Gary Sinise's presence also forms one of the emotional focal points of the film; that scene, that look... It would be an understatement to describe it in words. One of the production's greatest achievements is its equal treatment of big and small moments with sincerity. The scene where a run stretches on into infinity carries the same emotional intensity as an ordinary conversation on a park bench. Because this film ultimately tells not about life's big lessons, but about the permanence of small moments. Although the life metaphor likened to a chocolate box has become ingrained in culture, you feel as if you were hearing that phrase for the first time while watching the film. This, too, is a sign of mastery in itself.

"Forrest" (Tom Hanks) isn't the sharpest tool in the box, but he has an heart of gold and an unparalleled sense of human decency. These laudable characteristics are the result of an upbringing by his mother (Sally Field) which has seen him grow from the bullied young boy from Alabama who discovers that he can run a little faster than your average bear, to a sort of national hero. We learn all this from him as he sits at a bus stop chatting to an initially disinterested nurse, and then to a colle...
