The engagement ring is on, the invitations have been sent, happiness is at its peak. Kristoffer Borgli's new film starts from this very point; that is, from the brink of that fragile moment when everything seems fine, but in fact nothing is really in its proper place. Norwegian director Borgli has proven his mastery of conveying the complex relationship that a person builds with himself and society with a sharp eye in the works we have watched before. This time set on the streets of Boston, the story appears on the surface to be a classic romantic comedy, but beneath the surface it harbors much deeper and unsettling questions. What is trust, how far does loyalty extend, and what kind of test must a couple undergo to truly bond together? Zendaya and Robert Pattinson form a chemistry on screen that is rarely seen. The fragile yet determined energy that Zendaya embodies is unexpectedly complemented by Pattinson's ability to explore different layers in each role. Watching these two characters throughout the film, you both sympathize with them and realize that you disagree with them from time to time; this balance is the most obvious sign of a well-written script. The ensemble, formed with the strengthening of the cast by names such as Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim, contributes to the story not only as supporting figures, but as a mirror. The dynamics between the characters quietly reveal where the real cracks in the relationship begin. In Borgli's narrative approach, dark comedy always lurks just beneath the surface; while you laugh in one scene, you sense something unraveling on the other side. This approach, which uses melodrama as a tool without shying away from being melodramatic, makes the film both emotionally and intellectually engaging. The strange, tense, and yet hilarious atmosphere of the pre-wedding period draws the audience along with the characters. It's a naive-looking production where you can go in expecting a light romantic movie and come out with much more complex feelings, but it's quite brave in terms of the questions it's not afraid to ask.

With just one week to go until their nuptials, the partially deaf 'Emma' (Zendaya) and 'Charlie' (Robert Pattinson) are nervously anticipating the big day. Planning is still incomplete as they sit down with friends 'Rachel' (Alana Haim) and her husband 'Mike' (Mamoudou Athie) for the onerous task of selecting the menu. The mushroom risotto seems to be a winner, though quite what was wrong with his idea of a cheeseburger I don't know, and so they turn their thoughts to the wine. A little tipsy, t...

Most of us are no doubt familiar with the expression “You think you know somebody,” an often-highly disillusioned reaction that arises when we become aware of some kind of previously unknown deception involving someone that runs contrary to our beliefs about that person’s nature. The impact can be severe, too, particularly when it relates to someone close and centers on an especially shocking revelation. So imagine what it must be like when one learns something appalling about one’s fiancée only...

Impressive acting by Zendaya, better than in other movies. Plot: Soon or later every couple discovers aspects of their partner they didn't expect and bring doubts. Unless you love one another and can't resist giving more chances, and realize everyone makes mistakes.

Days before walking down the aisle, what was supposed to be the making of a modern fairy tale turned into a psychological minefield for me. I went into The Drama expecting a quirky romance and got a punch in the gut disguised as social satire. The premise revolves around a shocking confession that completely challenged my views on morality, empathy, and how fragile appearances are in our era of constant scrutiny. Fair warning: if you're hitting the theater hoping for a lighthearted rom-com, you'...
