RED 2
Details
Retirement doesn't suit anyone; for former CIA agent Frank Moses, this is truer than ever. The effort to build a quiet life lasts a short time, and Moses, who finds himself on the target board of the most dangerous people in the world again, is forced to admit that he needs his former comrades-in-arms to get out of it this time. RED 2, the sequel to the 2010 film Red, builds upon the foundation laid by its predecessor and expands it to a broader geographical scope. This adventure, which has spread to London, Paris, and many other parts of the world, pursues Cold War-era secrets. While maintaining a high level of tension, it never loses its sense of humor; this delicate balance is actually the film's greatest weapon. The production, shaped under the direction of Dean Parisot, impresses with its impressive cast. The chemistry of Bruce Willis and John Malkovich duo has moved to the stage again; paranoid ex-agent Marvin, played by Malkovich, takes the course of the film in an unexpected direction with every moment. Although Mary-Louise Parker seems destined to remain in the shadows of the action, she brings a completely different dimension to the story. Helen Mirren lends a unique gravitas to every scene with her character that embodies both elegance and deadly power. Anthony Hopkins' casting is far more than just a name game; The character becomes a critical turning point that sets the film's tension arc. The theme explored throughout the film essentially revolves around a rather stark question: How long do the sins of the past haunt us? What happens if the bill for work done on behalf of the state decades ago begins to be paid? Although these questions seem to get lost amidst the explosion scenes and witty dialogues, they actually never go unnoticed. RED 2 is at the heart of its genre, among those rare productions that take action seriously but never take themselves too seriously. For the first twenty minutes, it doesn't ask for much from the audience; it just expects them to fasten their seatbelts and be ready to laugh. Sometimes this much is enough, and it's even quite enjoyable.

This movie was a clear example of when studios can't get enough of a good thing. Red didn't need a sequel at all. This cheap attempt at recreating the comedic magic that the the first movie had reminded me plenty of the overkill series of the Hangover. Some things should just be left alone in singular existence. 2/5 Stars is all this got from me.

Still a must-watch but it was never going to live up to the original.

Way better then the first. Way more action too and explosions. This one is hilarious too. It needs a part 3 now.
