This production, signed by Aditya Dhar, takes the audience to a much darker and multi-layered stage of the tense journey that the director started with Uri: The Surgical Strike. Set in the shadowy corridors of espionage, in a world where betrayal and loyalty are intertwined, the story gives the audience the weight of political tension that is felt not only on the screen, but almost on the body. Here, Ranveer Singh sheds his usual charismatic energy and portrays a much more introverted, weary, and dangerous character. While reflecting the encirclement of a man moving through the labyrinth of secret operations both from the outside and from the inside, the viewer is constantly questioning who is following whom, who is serving whom. Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan, on the other hand, stands out as two important pieces that add strength and uncertainty to this painting; it is impossible not to feel that the tension increases one more click when each of them enters the scene. While the film deals with a Pakistan-based terrorist organization and how political corruption intersects with the internal dynamics of India, it does not look at concepts such as nationalism and patriotism with a naive eye. On the contrary, it questions how these emotions can be instrumentalized and what price a soldier or agent must pay to remain in service to the country. It also delves deeply into the human flaws underlying covert operations and how betrayals are rooted in personal histories. The film, which establishes an ambitious structure with its 229-minute runtime, offers a script of sufficient intensity to fill this length. The interrogation scenes, gang dynamics, and layers of political conspiracy intertwine and build upon each other; the story never remains confined to a single genre. At times with raw violence, at times with silent and calculated tension, it keeps the audience rooted to their seats. Dhar implies in this film that a revenge story is not only a personal reckoning, but also that institutional rot and state secrets are waiting to be confronted. The question of who will truly answer before the curtain falls lingers in minds for a long time.
