Marc is a police officer stuck in a regular life. His pregnant girlfriend, his secure career, and the role society assigns him... Rather than placing the identity crisis in a melodramatic framework, Freier Fall presents it as a tension that flows silently in the inner world of the characters. Marc's contradictions stem not from how good he is, but from how ordinary he is. This ordinariness is the film's most powerful weapon. The chemistry between Hanno Koffler and Max Riemelt has a naturalness that is rare on the big screen. Both actors draw the audience in with a narrative hidden in glances and silences, without exaggerating the emotional weight. Katharina Schüttler expertly portrays the easiest but most painful point of the triangle.
