Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Details
The Fantastic Four, who hold a special place in Marvel's comic book universe, must confront a much larger and universal threat in this second adventure. Directed by Tim Story, the production picks up where the first film left off in 2005, trying to process both the inner world of the characters and the cosmic danger that awaits them at the same time. As preparations for Reed Richards and Sue Storm's wedding suggest the team is enjoying a relatively peaceful period, everything changes. A silver-colored, wooden-riding figure appearing in the sky becomes a harbinger of chaos that threatens not only cities, but continents and nature itself. The Silver Surfer appears as one of the most iconic characters in the comic book world as a mysterious and deeply melancholic being as he moves to the big screen. This character, voiced by Laurence Fishburne, feels more like someone who carries the weight of existence on his back than a pure villain, and this is the most interesting aspect of the film. The Galactus threat, on the other hand, represents destruction on a universal scale. This magnitude of danger, which the team had never encountered before, causes each of them to question their abilities and push their limits. Chris Evans' energetic Human Torch performance, Michael Chiklis' emotionally profound rendition of Thing, and Ioan Gruffudd and Jessica Alba's efforts to establish a love-duty balance feed the character-based moments of the film. The production offers a fast-paced and direct narrative with a runtime of 92 minutes. This choice, which emphasizes action over depth, sometimes fails to fully showcase the characters' potential. However, the visual language of the film has its own unique place in the superhero cinema of the period; the design of the Silver Surfer is especially noteworthy. This adventure, in which individual bonds with the cosmic threat are intertwined, offers the viewer not only an action-packed show, but also thought-provoking moments on sacrifice and solidarity. Some scenes that leave more questions than answers keep the audience eagerly watching in front of the screen.

Show off! A sequel to 2005 box office winner, "The Fantastic Four", "Rise Of The Silver Surfer" sees director Tim Story and the original cast principals return for more super hero schlocky fun. The story is based around the Marvel stories that featured the first appearance of said "Silver Surfer" in the comic book franchise. Silver Surfer (Doug Jones with Laurence Fishburne dubbing the voice) is acting as a herald for the planet devouring Galactus, the next target? Earth. Which is a bit unti...

Oddly enough, I did prefer this to the original (2005) outing for this not so very fab-four. This time the "Reed" (Ioan Gruffudd) and "Sue" (Jessica Alba) romance is about to tie the knot when the army intervene to enlist their help is dealing with the menacing threat posed by a mysterious "Silver Surfer" (who looks like an award your eight year old might have got for a Californian surfing competition in 1975). Anyway, it turns out that he is but a precursor to the far more deadly, planet gobbli...
