Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter
Details
One year has passed since the end of World War II. Peggy Carter, S.S.R.In Turkey, they are confined to their desks and forced to do work far below their capabilities. The men around her either ignore her or don't take her seriously; her assigned role is to answer the phone and bring coffee. However, this woman fought alongside Steve Rogers right in the middle of a war that changed the course of history. Within Marvel's short film series "One-Shots," Agent Carter presents a remarkably concise and impactful story condensed into just fifteen minutes. Directed by Louis D'Esposito, this short is not a superhero fairy tale; rather, it is the narrative of a warrior trapped in the iron cage of sexism's effort to write her own story with her own hands. The obstacles Peggy Carter faces are not the schemes of great villains, but everyday prejudices and institutional blindness. In this respect, the film stands out as unusually realistic and grounded within the MCU universe. Hayley Atwell packs an entire symphony of characters into this short period of time. The determination in her gaze, the grace in her movements and the anger that grows from stage to stage prove once again why she is so loved when she sees Peggy Carter on the screen. There are action scenes in the film, and they are surprisingly neatly edited for a small-budget short film, but what is really striking is what Atwell says in her quiet moments. The production serves as a sort of rehearsal stage for Agent Carter, which would later become a series. Within this short period of time, you sense the character's potential, the colors of their world, and the thematic weight they can carry. The era's atmosphere, costumes, and stage design strike a balanced tone between a broken noir vibe and the bright world of the MCU. For fifteen minutes, it both makes you laugh, makes you think, and makes you sit back and say, "I want more." Such short films are often seen as fillers; Agent Carter, on the contrary, is one of the rare examples that opens up space in the mind after watching, giving his character more than his due.

The MCU is full of heroic women, and Peggy Carter is no exception. Single-handedly doing the work of several men is just a typical day at the office for Agent Carter. Found as an extra on the Iron Man 3 disc, and among the collected One-Shots on the bonus disc in the Phase 2 box set.
