Batman Begins
Details
Christopher Nolan brought a completely new breath of fresh air to superhero cinema in 2005. Using the dark streets of Gotham not only as the background of an action scene, but also as a character in person, this film radically changed the way cape heroes moved from comics to the screen. At the heart of the story lies a childhood trauma. Little Bruce Wayne, who lost his parents in front of his eyes, grows up in the shadow of this pain; he becomes a man in the grip of guilt, anger and despair. Nolan meticulously maintains this dark mood throughout the entire film. Gotham's decadent order, corrupt institutions and abandoned people overlap so much with Bruce's inner turmoil that kent and adam almost turn into each other. Bruce Wayne, played by Christian Bale, stands out distinctly from the hero archetypes we've seen before. There is neither an untouchable superpower nor an innate superiority here; only pain, willpower, and discipline acquired over the years. The first half of the film conveys this transformation step by step, almost with the meticulousness of a martial arts tutorial. The characters played by Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy both fuel and threaten this transformation; each is the architect of their own ideology. Nolan's approach to filmmaking favors psychological intensity over visual spectacle. The camera angles, the lighting design and Hans Zimmer's music, which vibrates at deep frequencies, place the viewer not in the middle of the action, but on the emotional ground of that action. That's why when the film ends, what remains in memory isn't the punches or explosions; it's that shattering feeling of how a man reinvents himself. This production, which can be read as a myth built on fear, is also a manifesto of a pure and stubborn belief in justice. Wearing Bruce Wayne's mask feels less like hiding an identity and more like revealing the true self. It serves as a powerful answer to those wondering how far superhero cinema as a genre can go.

It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me. Bruce Wayne is constantly tortured by his childhood memories when he witnessed his parents being murdered. Taken under the wing of The League Of Shadows, a deadly ninja assassin army devoted to erasing crime with their own brand of harsh justice. After completing training, Wayne refuses to join them on account of not agreeing with their methods, he returns to Gotham City to reek his own one man war against crime. Director Christo...

i'm beginning to think people only say a movie is good because of it being long and having a good camera. to me the only highlight was cillian murphy's performance. the rest of this was just some dumb, boring trek.

Christopher Nolan's "Batman Begins" shows us exactly how Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) transforms into the caped crusader we all know and love, Batman. Admittedly like many others, even though this is the first entry in the Dark Knight Trilogy, I watched it is as my last one, and that is due to me not even knowing of it's existence, which is thanks to it being heavily overshadowed by the critically acclaimed sequel, "The Dark Knight." Batman Begins has a simple plot to follow full of twists. A...

Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale are at the top of their games with this enthralling interpretation of just how "Batman" came to be. "Bruce", the young sone of the billionaire "Wayne" family finds himself unexpectedly orphaned and is soon aimlessly bumming his way around Asia. It's when he encounters "Ducard" (Liam Neeson) and is lured high into the Himalayan mountains that he is set to training by the legendary Ra's Al Ghul (Ken Watanabe) so that he can join the "League of Shadows" - an uni...

**Batman Begins opened the door for the new age of superhero cinema with its realistic, grounded approach and excellent quality.** Many may not realize the groundbreaking impact Batman Begins had on the superhero genre. While Spider-man and X-Men were popular films, many still rejected comic book films as only for kids. Incredibly cheesy films like Catwoman and Batman + Robin didn’t help make the more grown-up audiences have much faith in the genre. But Batman Begins changed all that. Batman ...

It was a nice change to see for a batman series of movies that were going down hill. This movie was ok but at least it's not as bad as the ones that were being made before this.

A very self-involved and glum Batman. Not my favourite. Once we finally get to Batman being Batman it's a cool movie. Christian Bale wears the cape well, but the villains lack grit.
