Ice Age
Details
As a massive glacier slowly collapses onto the Earth, creatures across the planet migrate toward the warmth of the south. But right in the middle of this chaotic migration wave, three animals that are not at all similar to each other are left alone with an extremely unexpected burden: a lost, defenseless human cub. Directed by Chris Wedge, this production may seem like an ordinary animated adventure at first glance. However, beneath the surface flows something much warmer, something much more universal. The deep loneliness that Manny the mammoth hides behind his rude appearance, the hunger for love that echoes through all the noise of Sid the sloth, and the truth under the cold outer shell of Diego the tiger... The union of these three, although it seems to have been born by chance, eventually turns into something; something that you can't easily call a family, but you can't describe it any other way. Although the film takes place against icy landscapes and in a landscape that seems almost like the end of the world, it never feels bleak. The humor is so skillfully woven into the fabric of the story that it not only makes you laugh but also challenges you. Watching what it's like to lose, take responsibility and overcome insecurity through the eyes of a long-toothed tiger turns into a pretty impressive experience. The voice acting by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary not only gives the characters voices but also adds personality to them. Every line, every reaction; it feels like a warm spot inside in that cold world. Moreover, those squirrel scenes that seemed to have been added as side notes to the film have over time become an icon in their own right. It has been etched into cinema as one of the purest examples of non-verbal, pure comedy. This production, which engaged both children and adults at different levels for eighty-one minutes, broke new ground in the animation world of the 2000s. Its visuality is bold according to its period, and its story is timeless. That ember that ignites in the middle of the cold does not go out long after watching it.

"Manfred" the mammoth is heading north just as just about every other critter is migrating the other way to avoid the harsh winter. Unfortunately for him, he encounters the sleepy-head sloth "Sid" whom he rescues from a pair of rhinos, only to bitterly regret his kindness as this pesky mammal is soon getting on his nerves. Meantime, a pride of sabre-toothed tigers are plotting revenge on a human village whose hunting parties have taken their toll on their now dwindling numbers. Their target is a...
