Ireland in the 1650s. Forests yet to be conquered, lands protected not by swords but by legends, and a nature breathing within these lands... This animated film, which is poised to be hailed as Tomm Moore's masterpiece, invites viewers not only to a visual feast but also to a profound inner journey. Robyn is a young and curious potter who came to Ireland with her father. He lives for his father, for order, and for the roles assigned to him; but a suppressed desire for freedom simmers within him. And deep in the forest there is a completely different world: an ancient space where instincts, not rules, apply, and man has not yet been at war with nature. There, Robyn encounters someone who is not like her, but perhaps understands her best. Moore brings his passion for Irish folklore to its peak in this film. The hand-drawn animation style, inspired by Celtic art, breathes life into every frame. The light reflected in the characters' eyes, the swaying leaves of the forest, the visual language of the transformation into a wolf... None of these are coincidences. Each line embodies the spirit of the narrative and conveys a warmth to the viewer that digital animation often fails to deliver. Although the film appears on the surface to be an adventure and transformation story, at its core it poses much more profound questions. Harmony or freedom? Destruction in the name of protection? Does love shape a person or the brutality inside him? These questions sink into the audience's minds within the natural flow of the tale, without ever resorting to heavy-handed didacticism. The portrayal of the father-daughter relationship is particularly noteworthy. The father figure voiced by Sean Bean is not a one-dimensional image of authority; he is a complex person who has surrendered to the system but whose love remains genuine. This human condition is an important axis that carries the emotional weight of the film. Wolfwalkers is a rare type of work that can generate meaning across different levels of both children and adults. As the curtain closes, what remains within you is the peaceful heaviness of having listened not to a film but to an old tale.

If you enjoy reading my Spoiler-Free reviews, please follow my blog @ https://www.msbreviews.com I've always been a tremendous fan of animation. If there's one comment I deeply despise is the "animated films are for children". This preconceived notion is extremely dated, and honestly, quite childish. I don't even think it works within a teenage banter anymore since anime keeps growing exponentially around the world, and animated movies are reaching more and more people as time goes by. The w...

With its multi-layered metaphysical storytelling and rich animation, 'Wolfwalkers' is basically the only reason to acknowledge Apple TV+ at the moment. It also reaffirms that Cartoon Saloon makes animated films that culturally literate adults can watch without needing a pint-sized companion as pretext. After watching it, you'll see why the studio is destined to become just as legendary as Laika and Ghibli. - Jake Watt Read Jake's full article... https://www.maketheswitch.com.au/article/revi...
