Ice Age: Continental Drift
Details
A story in which the earth shakes, continents break apart and drift away, and familiar faces are forced to wake up in a completely different world... The fourth ring of the Ice Age series confronts its audience with both the warmth of a nostalgic reunion and the unpredictable danger of the high seas. This time, the trio of Manny, Diego, and Sid are being torn away from the safety of the mainland. The ground beneath them literally gives way, and they find themselves in the middle of a vast ocean, far from everything they know. These characters, who walked across the frozen expanse of the tundra in previous films of the series, now have to confront a completely different element: water. This change symbolizes not only a physical difference of space, but also an existential fracture, in which the characters are forced to redefine themselves. Perhaps the film's strongest aspect is its questioning of family bonds and the sense of belonging right in the midst of the threat. Breaking away from the herd, moving away from home, and trying to survive in the middle of an unfamiliar world... All of this offers an entertaining adventure for young viewers while whispering something deeper to adults. The fear of losing and the hope of reuniting form the emotional backbone of the film. On the other hand, the series never slows down in terms of pace, with action sequences peppered with pirates and sea monsters. The new characters breathe fresh life into the story; in particular, the antagonist's design and voice acting reveal one of the series' most distinctive villain figures. The main trio, voiced by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, and Denis Leary, manages to maintain the genuine chemistry that has been established with the audience over the years. Of course, no Ice Age movie would be complete without Scrat. This prehistoric squirrel, who is in a mad rush in pursuit of his acorn, signs the most laughable moments of the film with his absurd adventure, which this time affects even the course of the world. The Scrat scenes capture the spirit of the series in its purest form: chaotic, melancholic, and yet humorous. With its eighty-eight-minute runtime, the film traverses the fertile ground of family cinema without overwhelming or leaving the audience superficial. Perfect for watching as a large family or with a bond from childhood.

These movies are just good all them. Haven't made or seen a bad one yet. They all make me laugh.

By now, we are all maybe all a bit too familiar with "Scrat" chasing his acorn and with his expanding group of friends' adventures in the frozen north. I certainly found this story to be entertaining enough, but running short on ideas and somewhat repetitive. When cast adrift on an ice floe, and heading to warmer climes, our wooly mammoth, sloth and sabre-toothed tiger have to figure out a way to tap the northerly sea currents and using an iceberg, get themselves back to the chill where "Ellie" ...
