This work of Iranian cinema, which resonates around the world, is one of the rare works in which Asghar Farhadi transforms a masterfully constructed family drama into a multi-layered social inquiry. The story that begins with Nader and Simin's decision to divorce is actually just the first stone falling on the surface of a much deeper conflict. Simin dreams of a better future for her daughter Termeh and wants to leave Iran. Nader, on the other hand, cannot bring himself to leave his father, who has Alzheimer's disease, alone. At this point, where two different moral truths come face to face, the film goes far beyond divorce. Using this family crisis as a lens, Farhadi reveals the class tensions that Iranian society is going through, the gap between traditional values and the modern quest for freedom, and the individual's stuckness between his conscience and society's expectations. One of the film's greatest strengths is that it does not present any character as guilty or innocent. Every decision is understandable, every attitude is defensible, and that's exactly why the viewer can never settle into a comfortable corner. This moral tension, rising scene by scene, brings the cold atmosphere of a real courtroom to the screen. The naturalness displayed by the entire cast, especially Leila Hatami and Peyman Moadi, makes the film watch with a documentary closeness. The work, which won the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Film Festival and was selected as the Best Foreign Film at the Oscars, is a mirror held not only to Iran but to universal human nature. It leaves a silent but deep question mark that remains in the mind for a long time after watching it.

Great movie around and simple yet neat story with great characters, script and performances. You can totally believe the story is just happening at your building stairs.
