Music sometimes does what words cannot; it doesn't repair what has been broken, but it makes it bearable. One of the most touching productions of the Japanese anime world in recent years, this film presents a fictionalized music and love story by taking that very fact into the center. Following the television animation adapted from the short manga series, this cinema extension promises a very intense emotional journey with a duration of about an hour. The story revolves around a small but passionate music group formed by high school students. But the focus is not only on the music; the traces the characters leave in their pasts, the attraction they feel for each other, and the heavy silence that comes with whether they can express these feelings. The production adheres to the conventions of the boys' love genre while managing to transcend them. The relationships between the characters go far beyond superficial romance; they are intertwined with universal emotions such as loss, guilt, and the struggle to exist anew. Therefore, the story appeals not only to a specific audience but to anyone who can feel the fragility of human bonds. Director Hikaru Yamaguchi uses music as a tool extremely skillfully to express the inner world of the characters. The performance scenes are designed as the emotional climax of the film; moments have been created where the audience can feel everything they have accumulated up to that moment in a single collision. The animation's visual language also serves this mood; the color palette and line quality form a cohesive whole consistent with the characters' inner states. The voice cast is also extremely successful in carrying this emotional weight. Each character's voice feels like a reflection of what they're suppressing or trying to express. A one-hour film exists to complete something, not to start something. But "completing" doesn't always mean closing doors; it means accepting some things and leaving others as they are. You can be pretty sure that the melody playing in your head after watching the movie will make you think about this.
