Vengeance is not merely an emotion; sometimes it transforms into a way of being. This ember fire that grows inside a warrior whose dynasty has been destroyed, who has lost his loved ones in front of his eyes, both dehumanizes him and gives him extraordinary strength. Scorpion's story takes shape precisely at this fragile boundary, keeping the viewer right in the middle of this tension from beginning to end. Directed by Ethan Spaulding, this animated production manages to put a thirty-year-old video game legacy on a truly emotional footing instead of reducing it to a visual show. Keeping the doors open for everyone who knows or does not know the Mortal Kombat universe, this production skillfully weaves the characters' backgrounds, allowing the battles to carry meaning beyond a mere show of strength. Violence is not decorative here; every blow has a story, every revenge has a price. This universe, where the ancient war between Earthrealm and Outworld reignites, draws viewers in with both its mythological depth and the characters' personal journeys. The effort to protect Lord Raiden's realm, the danger woven by Shang Tsung's dark magic, and the burdens carried by each of the warriors participating in the tournament form layers that feed each other. Thanks to these layers, the film never wastes an eighth of its eighty minutes. Positioned as adult animation, the production takes this label seriously both visually and emotionally. The fight scenes, whose choreography is highly dynamic, are visually striking but do not overshadow the story. On the contrary, it keeps the audience emotionally engaged by reminding them at every scene what the warriors are fighting for. Scorpion, voiced by Patrick Seitz, is at the heart of the film in this respect; he is portrayed on screen as a character torn between anger and pain. Even if you are stepping into the Mortal Kombat universe for the first time, you will not get lost; but if you have experienced that universe before, you will be deeply affected by the new meanings attached to familiar elements. This balance, which both respects a long-standing fanbase and opens doors to new audiences, is one of the production's greatest achievements.

If you're a fan of the video games, stick to them - the visuals and narrative that they deliver are still at a much higher level of sophistication than 'Mortal Kombat Legacy: Scorpion's Revenge'. - Jake Watt Read Jake's full article... https://www.maketheswitch.com.au/article/review-mortal-kombat-legacy-scorpions-revenge-an-animated-gorefest-for-aggressive-preschoolers

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge gets off to a very promising start. I don’t think it’s hyperbole to call the first 10 minutes a blood orgy – I mean, a waterfall ends up literally flowing red with the blood of the dead. This is all great stuff, brutal and uncompromising. Unfortunately, it’s also the best part of the film, after which it doesn’t take long for things to go downhill. The plot goes in autopilot, following a very familiar path – and, as they say, familiarity breeds contem...

My favorite Mortal Kombat movie to this day. I loved the story and all the characters. Scorpion was amazingly done and so were other characters like Liu Kang. I loved Shang Tsung and Quan Chi as the villain. I really enjoyed how they managed to tell us the story of Scorpion and his quest for vengeance while also showing off Liu Kang and his development through his dialogue with Raiden and his fight and dialogue with Kitana. Kitana was amazingly done as a supporting character. Additionally, seein...
