Pulp Fiction

Among the works that left their mark on 1990s Hollywood and fundamentally changed the course of modern cinema, this film's name always ranks among the top. Quentin Tarantino, in his second full-length work, has brought his unique narrative understanding to its climax, revealing both a crime film and a manifesto about the possibilities of cinema. In the dark streets of Los Angeles, seemingly independent lives intersect at unexpected moments. Two hitmen, a boxer, a crime syndicate leader, and an opportunistic couple... The stories of these characters are not told in a linear timeline, but rather in interconnected chapters. This choice by Tarantino, which shatters the concept of time, transforms the viewer from a passive spectator into an active puzzle solver. Each scene is part of the previous one or the next one; but figuring out which part belongs where becomes an enjoyable task in itself. One of the film's strongest aspects is how violence and comedy can coexist in such an unsettling harmony. Scenes characterized by extreme tension are suddenly broken by absurd humor, leaving the viewer constantly searching for balance. Feeling uncomfortable while laughing or laughing unexpectedly during moments of tension is the result of this rhythm skillfully established by Tarantino. John Travolta and Samuel L. The dialogues between Jackson have become one of the most memorable conversations in the history of cinema. Decatur, Decatur, decatur, decatur. These moments, which begin like ordinary conversations, intertwine with existential questions, moral dilemmas, and profound darkness. Uma Thurman's enigmatic presence, Bruce Willis's weary and cornered boxer, Harvey Keitel's cool-headed professionalism... Each character carries a complete story within themselves. Pulp Fiction is not just a crime film; it is an expression of the love for cinema itself. This work, which was carried to a high artistic ground by feeding on the aesthetics of cheap novels and B movies, was awarded the Palme d'Or at Cannes in 1994 and has not lost its influence since then. For first-time viewers, it is a shock; for those who have watched it many times, it is an experience that offers new layers.

***The cream of the crop of quirky crime thrillers*** RELEASED IN 1994 and written & directed by Quentin Tarantino, "Pulp Fiction" is a drama/thriller/black comedy about two hit men in Los Angeles (John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson), their mob boss & his wife (Ving Rhames and Uma Thurman) and a champion boxer who incurs the wrath of the boss (Bruce Willis). The lurid, droll tale is told in a non-linear fashion, but it's easy to follow and the final act ties everything up nicely. The dial...

Ving Rhames ("Wallace") is the kingpin who provides the loosest of templates for a couple of inter-twining tales that are amusing, bizarre and sometimes down right dangerous before we get a sort of alignment at the conclusion. "Winnfield" (Samuel L. Jackson) and "Vincent Vega" (John Travolta) are a pair of dapper enforcers, despatched to retrieve a stolen briefcase. Though their manner may be precise, the execution of their tasks are usually more hit and miss, definitely messy - and frequently r...

Tarantino is the most overrated director of our times, all his films are silly but people say they are masterpieces, perhaps they are but not for the right way, the only good thing about Tarantino is that he isn't afraid of revenge for the sake of making his characters good.

**One of the unavoidable movies to know Tarantino… but I think it's not as incredible as it is sometimes said to be.** This was one of the films that consolidated Tarantino's career and made him one of the "superstar" directors who, whenever he releases a film, whether good or bad, attracts a legion to the cinema. I was never a fan of his, and I don't think I will be. He made some films that I liked and others that I hated. I wouldn't call it regular, a “safe bet”, but we can't deny it, it's ...
