Moonrise Kingdom
Details

The summer of 1965 begins with two lonely souls finding each other on a deserted island off the coast of New England. Sam is a lonely boy who seems to have fallen out of time with his small backpack and scout uniform. Suzy, on the other hand, lives in a unique dream world that does not comply with the order and adult logic surrounding her. These two young people, who have known each other through letters for a long time, decide one day to leave everyone behind and run away into the depths of the forest. Every scene by Wes Anderson looks like a meticulously constructed miniature. Pastel colours, symmetrical compositions and a slightly halting rhythm take the film away from reality and into a fairy-tale atmosphere. But underneath this tale lies something real and fragile: the dizzying feeling of first love, the weight of not belonging, and the sadness of standing on the edge of childhood. The magic of the film is fed not only by the children's escape, but also by the collapse in the own worlds of the adults looking for them. Names such as Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray and Frances McDormand give life to characters who carry their own stuckness in exchange for the freedom of children. The approaching hurricane appears as a threat ready to transform everything, both literally and figuratively. Moonrise Kingdom is one of the rare works that tells about growing up without romanticizing it and blends melancholy with joy. While watching, you feel like you both lost your childhood and found it again for a moment.
