The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Details

Some stories stay hanging inside people for a long time. This film, which carries the spirit of the 1990s on the foggy streets of Pittsburgh, offers exactly such an experience. Charlie, who has just started his freshman year of high school, may seem like an ordinary teenager from the outside; But beneath his silence lies a much more complex inner world. Forced to step into a new life while mourning the death of his recently lost best friend, Charlie prefers to remain virtually invisible in the corridors. Until two brothers named Sam and Patrick enter his life. This production, for which Stephen Chbosky wrote both the novel and the screenplay, boldly reminds us that youth is not only a bright and free period. It conveys the pain of growing up, the search for belonging, and the deep traces the past leaves on a person with such an honest eye that the viewer sometimes feels like they are looking at their own memories, not the screen. The film carries its emotional weight without falling into melodrama; This clearly distinguishes it from the clichés of its genre. Logan Lerman's performance, which carries fragility and strength at the same time, combined with the energy brought by Emma Watson and Ezra Miller, creates truly believable characters. Musical choices from the 90s go beyond creating nostalgia and become an integral part of the emotional texture of the film. The Benefits of Being a Wallflower is the story of both youth and coming to terms with the wounds of the past. You can't leave that world for a long time after watching it.

Really complex and sweet movie with a great story, script and performances from Lerman, Watson and Miller. Also, great directing and cut. A really good movie for a rainy day.
