Toy Story
Details
How do you feel when you touch one of the most innocent moments of childhood? Have you ever imagined that your toys are doing their best not to leave you, that they continue to live in their own world after you leave the room? The doors to a universe that began with this very question were forever opened in 1995 under the direction of John Lasseter. Being Pixar's first feature-length film places it in a unique position in cinema history. This entirely computer-generated animated world represents not only a technical revolution but also an emotional earthquake. But its real magic lies not in the technology itself, but in how real the human—or toy—relationships it portrays feel. Sheriff Woody, who came to life with the voice of Tom Hanks, has been a favorite of the owner for many years. A regular, reliable, well-liked person. Until Buzz Lightyear, the spaceman speaking with Tim Allen's pale, charismatic voice, appeared on stage. Jealousy, fear of displacement, the uneasiness brought on by aging... These are emotions that adults know very well. And this film manages to convey them through the eyes of children, through the perspective of toys. The tension between Woody and Buzz evolves into something over time; however, the audience must discover for themselves how that transformation occurs. The dangers of the outside world, the neighbor boy's dark hobby, the fine line between home and freedom... The script maintains all these elements in a surprisingly masterful balance. It neither remains purely a children's film nor immerses itself in philosophical depth. The comedy timing is perfect, the action scenes are breathtaking, and the chemistry between the characters transcends the screen. Even the supporting characters voiced by names like Don Rickles, Wallace Shawn, and Jim Varney make their own little worlds believable. Toy Story whispers something to the audience; a universal truth about being loved, belonging, and adapting to change. In doing this, it is neither didactic nor superficial. Thirty years later, this whisper is still heard, still touches us.

A stunning feature film entrance from Pixar! <em>'Toy Story'</em> is a true delight, from the first second to the last. The CGI animation is excellent. All the toys look brilliant, as does the world itself - I love the feel of it. The music is very good, Randy Newman does a nice job - "You've Got a Friend in Me" is a cracker. Tom Hanks leads a strong cast. Hanks plays Woody, to fantastic effect. He is the best part of this film. Tim Allen is great, too, as Buzz Lightyear. Don Rickles (Mr. ...

Every now and again when you watch antiques programmes on television and somebody turns up with a toy in it's original box - that turns out to be worth more than his car - I regret that I no longer possess any from my childhood. I do recall, however, being especially fickle - the favourite one day was never likely to reign long before being supplanted by another. That's the case here for cowboy "Woody". He is the favourite of owner "Andy" amongst, it has to be said, rather a lot of different one...
