How many other names can we name whose fame is this bright and whose shadow is this deep? The story of Michael Jackson, who redefines the boundaries of music, moves like a god on stage, but is a much more complex person away from the stage lights, is being brought to the screen with the direction of Antoine Fuqua. As a filmmaker who has focused on power, destruction and the contradictions of human nature throughout his career, Fuqua is not a surprise to this project; on the contrary, he is a perfect fit. Perhaps the boldest decision in the film was the choice of Jaafar Jackson for the lead role. Jaafar, Michael Jackson's nephew, takes on this role, bringing both the weight of his family legacy and his closeness to the artist to the stage. This adds a much deeper dimension to the performance than ordinary mimicry; the audience will be watching not only the biography of a star, but almost an insider's testimony. The film spans a wide time period, from Jackson's childhood to his transformation into a worldwide phenomenon. This journey from the 1960s to the 1980s is also a period drama that documents the transformation of American pop culture. But the real issue is this: In Fuqua's hands, this film doesn't just become a "how did he do it" story. This film echoes the question not only of how fame is built, but also of how it consumes people. The presence of strong actors like Colman Domingo and Miles Teller supporting the cast shows that the story doesn't rely solely on iconography. The dynamics within the Jackson family, the pressure created by the paternal figure and the price a child pays before going on stage form the emotional backbone of the film. The years before fame hold much more than glittering costumes and dance routines. The performances that marked turning points in music history are also an integral part of the film. These moments are not only a nostalgic celebration but also an opportunity to confront the realities behind that success. If you're wondering what fuels the magic on stage, this film will offer some answers—but it will likely also raise new questions.

Given the whole slew of Jackson's involved in this stylish production, I couldn't help but feel a bit disappointed by the hollowness of the whole thing. Certainly Jaafar Jackson has something of his uncle's charm and childlike vulnerability, but were we not to have known he was a member of the actual family then I'm not sure I'd have been that convinced by his acting characterisation away from the dance floor. In any case, we begin with his ten year old (or is that eight?) younger years; with th...

_**A FABULOUS CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE**_ No matter how many times you watch it, the movie gets even better if you're a Michael Jackson fan. It offers a fast-paced look at the early life of the King of Pop without making it rushed. Basically tells how he became the King of Pop and what it took him to become that famous globally, including the abuse by his father and struggles with his lost childhood and appearance. Despite enjoying Bohemian Rhapsody more in terms of its length and structure, M...
