Those dark questions that the Star Wars universe has built up about cloning technology and the ethics of war may not have been explored in such depth anywhere as this series. The "Team of Villains", which are the familiar faces of Clone Wars, consists of five clone troopers who are considered genetically defective but have developed extraordinary abilities thanks to these very defects. With the collapse of the Republic and the rise of the Empire, this group now begins to question which side they even belong to. This production, created by Dave Filoni, manages to capture the pivotal moment of political transformation in Star Wars in its most human dimension. The story of a group of mercenaries trying to survive under the increasingly harsh authority of the Empire, it also asks extremely powerful questions about identity, free will and the cost of standing up to the system. Do clones have to behave as programmed, or can they write their own destiny? This question appears in a different form in each section. Perhaps one of the boldest choices in the series is its filtering of these heavy themes through a young character. The addition of a small figure named Omega to the team both gives the story an emotional core and gives the audience the opportunity to feel like someone who has just opened the eyes of this world. The action scenes are spectacular, and the pacing is expertly crafted; but its real strength lies in the quiet moments between conflicts and the dynamics between characters. Expanding and deepening over the course of three seasons, this universe easily attracts both viewers familiar with Star Wars and those who are distant from animation. The visual language matures more and more with each passing season, and Dee Bradley Baker pushes the boundaries of voice acting by almost single-handedly giving all the clone characters a separate voice and soul.
