Only Murders in the Building
Details
Set in the grand yet mysterious corridors of New York, this series stands out as one of the most elegant surprises in modern television. The unexpected union of three neighbors representing different generations and worlds gives rise to one of those rare works that both makes you laugh and makes you think. Nothing is as it seems. Arconia, an archaic, grand apartment block, has mastered hiding decades-old secrets within its walls. This building, shaken by the news of a murder, takes on a completely different meaning when three strangers come together around a common goal. However, the investigation conducted by these three individuals goes far beyond an ordinary detective story. The real issue is that these people discover each other and have to confront the darkness within themselves. When Steve Martin and Martin Short's decades of comedic experience meet Selena Gomez's surprisingly strong and layered acting, a rare chemistry is born on screen. The dynamic between three people so different in age makes the viewer question how a genuine friendship can blossom from utter loneliness. Immediately after a scene that makes you smile, a moment of deep loneliness is captured; these transitions are so skillfully set up that you can't quite tell when you're laughing and when you're stuck inside. References to podcast culture transform into a contemporary narrative tool here. This approach, which both satirizes and truly embraces how crime investigation has become the passion of ordinary people, freely breaks the series from the patterns of its genre. Although the murder mystery appears to be at the forefront, universal themes such as difference, loneliness, belonging, and getting lost in the city are quietly explored in the background. Each season poses a new question and opens up a new dimension. It not only keeps your curiosity alive, but it draws you so deeply into the characters that you want these people to stay together rather than find a solution. This in itself is an achievement. This series, which can be considered among the productions that have maintained their quality over five seasons, appeals to both mystery enthusiasts and those who value the nuances of human relationships.

Only murders in the building is a masterpiece and should be an example of how a comedy should be written, it explores detailed plots whilst being light and upbeat, it is perplexing and fascinating to see the unraveling storyline highlight amazingly placed plot points.

I don't know what all the hype is about. I had to stop watching by the third episode, I no longer cared about the plot or the characters. A serealistic, slow and badly written comedy. Truly one of the worst shows I've seen, and I've seen a lot. It's not common for me to drop at the beginning of the season (or at any point in the series). My advice is don't watch it.
