Seventy years of age is often seen as a period when most people look back on their lives and come to terms with what they have given up. But for some souls, this number is merely a starting point. Navillera opens with this very question: Does such a thing as "too late for a person" really exist? Adapted from a popular webtoon, this South Korean production brings together two vastly different generations on the same stage. On the one hand, a seventy-year-old man trying to find a dream he lost in the silence of retirement; on the other hand, a twenty-three-year-old who is dedicated to ballet with all his self, but is being crushed under the weight of life. They are both fragile in different ways, and they are both brave in different ways. The strength of the series lies in the fact that the relationship between these two characters never devolves into a didactic or superficial intergenerational friendship cliché. On the contrary, both are taking something from each other; this exchange flows so organically that the viewer finds themselves unknowingly caught up in this bond. While one is learning to hold on to life again, the other is regaining a pure enthusiasm lost over the years. Ballet is not merely used as a background or visual element here. There are things conveyed through movement, rhythm, and the language of the body that words could not convey so pure. Each exercise scene, each fall, and each resumption becomes a visible reflection of the characters' inner world. While the production deals with family dynamics, social expectations and the confrontation of the individual with his own desires, he never gets caught up in the intention of preaching. Instead, it immerses the viewer in these questions and invites them to seek the answers alongside the characters. A strong TMDB score of 8.6 indicates that the series has a solid structure not only emotionally but also dramatically. With its twelve-part structure, Navillera concludes its story precisely when and where it needs to be told, leaving no room for an unnecessarily drawn-out narrative. It leaves a feeling that lingers for a long time after watching; not sweet, but profound.

It's good enough but not that good! It's highly rated so it's only natural to get into it with high expectations, unfortunately, it became quickly evident what kind of show I'll be getting. As a life drama, it lacked the essence of genuine human connection and eventually dipped in mediocrity trying to achieve that artificially by adopting quick, dry and cutthroat life cliches lacking nuances, depth, relevant characterization and thematic attachment. Aside from the 2 main characters, none of the ...
