The Good Wife
Details
Some stories, while telling the story of a woman's journey to self-discovery, simultaneously reveal all the vulnerabilities of a system. The Good Wife is exactly this kind of story; on the surface it appears to be a legal drama, but deep down it deals with something much darker and far more universal. Alicia Florrick is a woman etched into the public consciousness as "the loyal wife standing by her husband's side." The stone-cold composure she displayed in front of the cameras when her husband's scandal broke out actually concealed how intense the storm within her was. When he returns to his career, which he put aside for years, the viewer is watching not only the struggle of a lawyer in the halls, but also the rediscovery of who a person is. This return is neither triumphant nor easy; on the contrary, it is a tiring process, at times humiliating, and constantly requiring self-proof. The series portrays Chicago's prestigious legal world in a realistic yet never boring way. Cases are not merely legal puzzles; they are also reflections of how politics, media, and money shape justice. Although each episode appears to be self-contained, the relationships between characters and the power dynamics gradually shift, almost imperceptibly. At a certain point, the audience realizes that they are not following the cases but the characters' grudges against each other. Julianna Margulies plays Alicia without ever seeking sympathy. There is a real complexity behind this coldness; Alicia is neither a complete victim nor a pure heroine. The characters around him also live in these gray areas. The tension that radiates from the screen when Christine Baranski's sharp wit meets Alan Cumming's menacing grace constitutes one of the greatest pleasures of the series. Political intrigues, moral dilemmas, questions about loyalty and betrayal—all these elements intertwine and progress together. Over time, The Good Wife ceases to be merely a legal drama and transforms into a modern woman's struggle for existence in both private and public spheres. Maintaining this tension to such an extent throughout seven seasons is an achievement in itself.

This show was recommended to us by a relative. It was running on a treating service we had, so we started watching it. We liked it enough so that when our service suddenly stopped running The Good Wife we signed up for CBS All Access. We have seen all seven seasons now and while I still liked it, the plots started to lag for me a bit in later seasons. Their professional relationships between different law firms or them personally kept changing, reminding me of the show Friends, where it felt ...
