Battlestar Galactica
Details
this series, which came to the screens in 2004 and is considered one of the most important works in the history of science fiction television, takes the patterns of the genre and shatters them. It offers much more than an adventure narrative set in space; it asks how humanity defines itself, how it confronts the dangers it creates and how it tries to continue to exist even on the verge of extinction. These questions won't leave you alone in front of the screen. As the remnant members of a civilization that was almost completely wiped out by the Cylons try to survive in the shadow of an old and tired warship, the audience soon realizes that they are not just watching an escape story. Ronald D. adapted Glen A. Larson's original universe. This structure, which Moore has expertly reinterpreted, processes the fear, insecurity and identity crises of the post-September 11 world with the liberating language of science fiction. In fact, the scenes set in space are filled with the most profound existential questions on Earth. Edward James Olmos's steely but cracking interpretation of the admiral and Mary McDonnell's character of the president, who carries vulnerability and determination at the same time, are among the strongest elements that distinguish this series from an ordinary space opera. The cast members who join them also build nail-biting tension in every episode. Starbuck, played by Katee Sackhoff, solidifies her place as one of the most unforgettable characters in television history. Throughout the series, the enemy is not clear. Betrayal comes from within, trust is constantly tested, and moral boundaries become a little more blurred with each episode. Who is human, who is Cylon? What price is paid in the name of freedom? How much can be given up to survive? Battlestar Galactica doesn't shy away from asking these questions, and it deliberately avoids giving easy answers. This structure, which progresses with a breathtaking pace, visual simplicity and emotional intensity for four seasons, proves once again that science fiction can be not only entertainment, but also a social mirror. It is not an easy journey for the viewer; but it is precisely because of this difficulty that finding a profound resonance becomes possible.

The only problem this show ever had was that it ended. It's some of the best space-based sci-fi shows that has ever existed.

Probably my all time favourite Sci-fi show and right up there with Breaking Bad and Sons of Anarchy with my top 3 of all time. The show is just perfect, the casting is realistic, the story-lines are immense with some great exciting moments. It is full on thoughtful science fiction with enough "Pew Pew" moments to raise the hairs on the back of your neck. The progression of the show and its characters over all the series works really well with the story-lines building and never going too far a...

I can understand the initial backlash against Starbuck, it seemed like an unneeded change in a reboot that might be full of unneeded changes that could take away from the original in the same way that "V" would. Only the reboot turned out to be legendary and though I feel appropriately dirty saying it--for love of 1978--but 2004 Starbuck turned out to be so much better than the clean ladies man. She was tough and grungy and awesome in the vein of the top shelf sci-fi heroes. And now there ...

This would have been a far better show if I didn't have the original Battlestar Galactica movie in the back of my mind telling me there was so much wrong with this new telling. It's a great show. It looks fantastic. The characters are excellent. The intrigue and betrayal are gripping. But for me, there were just too many comparisons to what was being done differently this time around. So basically, the show is great, I'm just very old.

After watching original 1978 series and then this... I can barely watch, struggling to finish season 1. Woke, genderized, random and crazy camera work, it's unbearable.
