Spider-Noir
Details
New York in the 1930s, with its dark streets suffocated by smoke and rain, is already like a character in itself. A city oppressed by the shadow of the Great Depression, a scene in the midst of despair and moral ambiguity. Placing the most extraordinary hero of a black-and-white world within this atmosphere is both a bold and utterly appropriate choice. Spider-Noir fundamentally departs from conventional superhero narratives. There are no massive-budget destruction scenes or colorful costumed crowds here. Instead, there is the silent drama of a man who is tired, resentful, and running away from coming to terms with his past. Nicolas Cage takes on this role with almost inevitable chemistry. Her weary voice and heavy body resonate with the character's burden, creating a strange and captivating harmony throughout the series. The series' greatest strength lies in its skillful balance between genres. On one hand, it has all the hallmarks of the classic film noir tradition: private detective, dangerous woman, unsolvable crimes, and moral gray areas. On the other hand, the mythological dimension brought by the Marvel universe finds its own unique place within this dark world. Instead of contradicting each other, the two elements complement each other; as a result, what emerges is neither a pure superhero series nor an ordinary period drama. Creator Oren Uziel structured each episode like a puzzle piece that is almost self-contained but connected to the larger picture. This first season of eight episodes drags the viewer with its leisurely rhythm; each case opens a new door, each door opens to a deeper darkness. With contributions from names like Lamorne Morris and Li Jun Li, the cast weaves a rich and believable world around the main character. The black-and-white visual preference is not a nostalgic fad, but a conscious language. Every frame makes you feel the oppression, poverty and desperate resistance of that period. The question of who the man behind the spider mask is is the real focus of the series. Having power does not make it easier to escape the past; on the contrary, it makes that past more visible.

Surprisingly good Noir story wrapped in a Spiderman skin. I really love that they doubled down on the theme rather than making it _just another superhero story._ The whole thing was really well put together. Everybody's talking about Nic Cage (well deserved) but all the actors killed it in their roles. I especially loved Li Jun Li as the femme fatale, she stole the scene every time. The cinematography was also excellent aside from some shoddy CGI (especially in the first 2 episodes). I did...

I'll be concise. The series is good technically, like writing, directing, acting are good. But there is a problem with the Spider-Noir costume that lacks common sense. Unfortunately, they choose the absurd costume that doesn't work in real world. The perfect costume of Spider-Noir is from the videogame "Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions". It has realistic leather pilot jacket and pilot googles. They obviously missed this. The series is good technically, but the choice of the absurd costume ...

Disney could learn from this. It isn't woke, it doesn't lecture to the audiance, at no point in time does it go out of it's way to attack white people, straight people, men, conservatives, Christians, Jews, or any other group that it's popular to hate on the tolerant left.... ... and, it doesn't take a hard right lean either, not that many things in Hollywood do, but I don't want to see right wing politics anymore than I want to see left wing politics in my entertainment... I just want escapi...
