The Simpsons
Details
How could the story of a mediocre family living in a mediocre house in a mediocre neighborhood under the pale yellow sky of Springfield have locked millions of people around the world on the screen for more than thirty years? The Simpsons is one of those rare works that manages to be both the question and the answer to this question. This animation, which Matt Groening brought to life in 1989, looks like a colorful and cheerful family comedy on the surface, but in fact it holds a much sharper mirror to modern life. The contradictions lurking inside middle-class American life, the absurdities of consumer culture, politics, religion, the media and the educational system, each of them Deceptively placed among the everyday adventures of these yellow-skinned characters. It makes you laugh while also making you think; while you're thinking, you suddenly see yourself or someone you know on that screen. Homer Simpson, one of the most iconic characters in television history, is not merely a father figure; he embodies a summary of human weaknesses. This man, who is not hardworking, but also not malicious, who opens the door to all kinds of disasters for the sake of the things he loves, loses nothing of his realism, despite the fact that he is a caricature. Next to her, Marge's patient elegance, Bart's rule-breaking energy, Lisa's idealism intertwined with loneliness and little Maggie's mysterious silence stand out as portraits, each of which has a different depth. The series is not only a comedy, but also a cultural document. It has evolved alongside the changing world over the years, capturing the spirit of its era and at times appearing to even foresee the future. this production, which has made television history with 37 seasons and more than 800 episodes, has not only proved that animation does not only appeal to children, but has permanently expanded the boundaries of the genre. While watching, you sometimes burst out laughing, and sometimes look at the screen with a wistful smile. Because Springfield is actually a very familiar place, and the Simpsons are actually a very familiar family. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem to end.

The awkward of Homer, and his family, and the endless stories. Is fun, and of course Homer legendary expression "Do'h" with has been taking into the dictionary. If you one of the few, who has been living under a rock, go see an episode.

I don’t think this is the best episode of the Simpsons, it’s not even in the period most consider the best seasons (4-8), but it’s my favorite episode. It perfectly encapsulates what made the Simpsons amazing in the 90s: right amount of heart, wacky but not balls to the wall, and integrating a celebrity without it seeming like the episode was one long promo for that celebrity – fully understand the irony of that because he’s playing Michael Jackson in the episode. Every now and again you find something hanging around in the back of the fridge or freezer you forgot to throw away. That's how I feel about The Simpsons. Its humour is, in my opinion, long past its "use by" date, feeling stale and tired. Its a shame it hasn't been shelved as what it did do back in the day, premiering on "The Tracey Ullman Show" (remember her?) was fantastic, witty and current. For myself I'd rather remember The Simpsons for what it was than what I believe its become. 4/...

The Simpsons is my all time favorite show! I am 13, and I can relate in so many ways since the Simpsons are an average American family! My favorite character is Lisa because even though she feels lonely because of her smarts, she prevails and overcomes so many ...

To address the failing quality: The Simpsons once mocked and then it became mainstream pop culture. So that is a cause of why it has declined. And another cause is that there is a new PC comedy trend to laugh at things. As in the audience is expected to laugh at the object itself without having an actual joke behind it. As in, "This is a computer, Laugh at it!" Because of that we see a transformation of the jokes. The celebrity guests were once the butt of the joke. Mulder and Scully ca...

Despite a MAJOR decline in Quality, The Simpsons is still one of the greatest Television shows of all time. Its peaks are some of the highest out there, and it has been able to regain its footing as of late. Fantastic Series.

It's not as good as it used to be, but the old episodes are glorious. I personally consider the classics as Seasons 1-19 (though you may consider them a different timeframe.) They have much better humor and the voice actors sound great (although when Marge cries she sounds like present Marge.) When you've got classics like "Marge Vs. Monorail" and "Whacking Day" the originals really are the best. Now they are streaming on Disney Plus.
