Brooklyn Nine-Nine
Details
Set on the crowded streets of New York City, in one of the busiest police stations of Brooklyn, this series has managed to become one of the brightest examples of the comedy world for more than a decade. The production, which has been on the screens for eight seasons, is one of the rare works that not only makes you laugh, but also gives its audience a real sense of belonging and allows them to connect sincerely to their characters. At the center of the story is a talented but irresponsible, intelligent but immature detective. The team that forms around this character consists of individuals who are each colorful in their own way and exist within their own inner worlds. Watching how this comfortable balance is shaken with the appointment of a new supervisor to the police station becomes the main dynamic that feeds the tension that the series has established since the first season. However, this tension never carries an uncomfortable weight; on the contrary, it provides an extremely fertile ground for comedy. Daniel J. The pen of the duo Goor and Michael Schur transcends the clichéd patterns of workplace comedy with great skill. This warmth and humanity, bearing the signature of Schur, who is also the architect of Parks and Recreation, permeates every episode of the series. The characters neither become caricatured nor overly idealized; on the contrary, they grow, change, and mature alongside the audience over time. The chemistry that arises when Andy Samberg's energetic and idiosyncratic sense of comedy meets Andre Braugher's extraordinarily controlled and deep acting is perhaps the strongest aspect of the series. Stephanie Beatriz's introverted but explosive character, Terry Crews' multidimensional interpretation and the interlocking performances of the other actors turn this team into a group that really exists. Beyond being funny, the series also boldly touches on social issues from time to time. They never preach about it; but in those moments, something stirs within the audience. This balance is what makes Brooklyn Nine-Nine so much more than just an ordinary police comedy. Over the course of eight seasons, it neither tires nor bores; when each episode ends, something warm remains inside you.

Atrocious acting. Forced jokes. The punch line marked with canned laughs. The whole art of forgotten crap comedy shows of the 1980s.

Not sure what the "canned laughter" means in the previous (and only) review. This show has no live audience, and no taped laughter whatsoever. Maybe they're confused about the show. But, if you like any of Michael Schur's other shows (The Office, Parks and Rec, The Good Place), you'll enjoy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Consistently funny. A weak last season, but solid up until then.

There's only two reviews and they're mostly negative, so I though I might post mine. This show rocks. It's funny, emotionnal and entertaining. You care for the characters and their relationships and it never stop being interesting. The actors have so much chemistry and there is so many quotable moments. Brooklyn 99 is a gem !

I started late on this show, started in 2026. Not a show if you're looking for a lot of depth but for funny bits it hits.
