Peaky Blinders
Details
In the back streets of Birmingham, which is still trying to heal the wounds of the First World War, a legend is born among smoke-Decked factories and muddy cobbles. This British production, written by Steven Knight, does not just use one of the most difficult periods of history as a backdrop; it masterfully handles the deep cracks left by war in people, how trauma turns into both destruction and dark determination. The Shelby family, who hid razor blades in the brims of their hats and dreamed far beyond the streets, goes far beyond a mere gang story. What is described here is how the lust for power and the survival instinct both hold a family together and tear it apart. Tommy Shelby, the patriarch of the family, stands out as one of the most complex characters in television history. This figure, brought to life with icy composure by Cillian Murphy, is a Decadent strategist, a broken soul and a tireless dreamer coming together in one body. Murphy's deep blue eyes sometimes convey everything without him saying a word throughout a scene. Instead of escaping into an embellished nostalgia typical of period dramas, the series reconstructs the England of the 1920s in a real and almost tangible form. Class conflicts, political upheavals, the struggle of immigrant communities and post-war social collapse are so skillfully woven into the fabric of the story that the historical background never feels like a didactic lesson. Visual language also transforms into a distinct means of expression. Gloomy colors, slow motion and the unexpected harmony of the music of names such as Nick Cave and PJ Harvey with the atmosphere of the period transport the audience both to that era and to a place beyond time. These striking aesthetic choices transform the series from a crime story into an almost poetic tragedy. Maintaining narrative coherence throughout six seasons, the depth given to each character, and the boldness of the script are no easy feat. Peaky Blinders is one of those rare works that makes you question whether good and evil, loyalty and betrayal, and survival and living with honor can coexist simultaneously.

Have only seen the first season so far but really enjoying it. The negotiations and power dynamics remind me of early seasons of *Narcos*, though there are fewer surprising turns of story. Hopeful that the format of 6 episodes per season will keep things from being high entertainment density.

Watched Season 1, and it's pretty good. Wished there were fewer **_[E X P L I C I T]_** scenes tho.

I only started watching it because of Tom Hardy and he's only in it for 5 minutes per episode, max. It's very boring and very pretentious. The main guy has a weird face, I don't like him.
