In the late 1970s, America was just beginning to grapple with the concept of the "serial killer." Even in the corridors of the FBI, there was no proper language or even a single right question to make sense of such crimes. Mindhunter fits right into this gap and recounts with a cool, almost sterile eye how modern psychological profiling techniques were born. Young and idealistic agent Holden Ford and his experienced colleague Bill Tench set aside their routine training duties at Quantico and begin touring prisons. Their goal is not an ordinary investigation; to go into the darkest corners of minds, to try to understand them by looking into the eyes of names who have gone down in history with the crimes they have committed. However, to truly understand a person, one must get very close to them, and the price of this closeness can be high. David Fincher's signature production style permeates every frame of the series. The cool color palettes, cautious camera movements, and deliberately slow-paced narrative draw the viewer in through atmosphere, not action. There are no explosions or chases here; instead, there are long, tense interrogation scenes. The strange, unsettling dialogues established with the killers form the backbone of the series, and each one lingers in one's mind for a long time after watching. The chemistry between Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany perfectly represents two worldviews that complement each other yet drift apart. While Holden feels an increasing curiosity and affinity for the darkness he is sinking deeper into, Bill struggles to maintain his balance. The evolution of this duo constitutes the series' core psychological journey. Mindhunter offers much more than just a crime series. It not only addresses those who seek to push the boundaries of the human mind, but also explains how pushing these boundaries transforms people. How close can one get to him to understand evil? And do those who do this really get to come home when they come home every night? The series is content to ask these questions, not answer them. But anyway, the real chill starts right there.

There's little that's conceptually different in crime drama Mindhunter. It takes its cue from films like Silence of the Lambs and tries to craft a series with a 70's vibe. Regrettably, on its own this is not enough to carry this series. It needed more but fails to deliver. Its not helped by a rather pretentious and at times silly take on criminal profiling. It wants to be taken seriously but really it has more in common with corny series like Criminal Minds, than it might care to admit. O...

First season great, the psychology is very interesting, the plot is good, at the beginning it's a little slow but then it kicks in and you can't stop. Second season... not so great, the plot is sloppy, part of the story has no ending, they completely deviate from their goal... The second season is pretty bad.

Amazing. The best true crime style show I've seen. Bummer that they didn't do so well with the ending though.

### **Review: *MINDHUNTER (2017)*** **Score: 8/10** *Mindhunter* is a masterfully crafted, intellectually riveting series that, for its brief but impactful run, redefined the psychological crime drama. It is indeed a **mixed bag**, but one where the quality of its best elements is so exceptional that the whole remains essential viewing. The series plunges us into the late 1970s birth of the FBI's Behavioural Science Unit, where agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCal...
