Castlevania
Details
Set in the dark and gloomy atmosphere of the Middle Ages, this animated masterpiece has gone down in history as one of Netflix's boldest productions. Brought to life by the pen of Warren Ellis and the vision of Adi Shankar, Castlevania has not only transformed the legendary video game series into a visual experience; it has literally turned it into a work of art. The story begins with the anger of Dracula, who has been haunting humanity's nightmares for centuries. However, this anger did not arise out of nowhere; its roots lie in a tragic loss, an unjust bereavement. The series takes viewers much deeper by not easily reducing them to a good-evil dichotomy. Why is Dracula so cruel? Is humanity really worth protecting? When did the church stop being holy and turn into an instrument of oppression? These questions echo through minds from chapter to chapter. Trevor Belmont, who came to life with the voice of Richard Armitage, was abandoned by his family, pushed out of society, is the last link of the once great hunter family. He appears before us as a disheartened, vindictive, and weary man. Those walking alongside him are no different; they are all broken in some way, all forced to confront their own shadows. The way these characters cling to each other forms the warmest and most human aspect of the series. The animation style draws inspiration from Japanese anime aesthetics while carrying a distinctive Western European darkness. The action scenes are both stunning and brutal; there is a real weight to the blood, bones, and screams. But Castlevania derives its real power not from these scenes, but from the cleverly written dialogues that delve into the characters' inner worlds. Philosophy, theology, and tragedy; it is one of the rare productions that can encompass all three at once. Over the course of four seasons, the expanding universe adds new voices and new darknesses while never losing the spirit of the first season. Each chapter, seemingly written with endless indifference, is actually part of an extremely careful and calculated journey. Those looking for a vampire story can sit down to read it without knowing they'll encounter one of the most compelling narratives ever written about humanity. That moment is when the true magic of Castlevania begins.

It gets good and good, as the show progresses, season by season. Season 1 got a bit slow, but that was only because there were 4 episodes. Season 2 got interesting, and it concluded with an epic confrontation between the three heroes and Dracula! Season 3 was excellent. Up until the last episode, which had a pretty bleak conclusion, how they left it with each character; just when you see a glimmer of hope you get disappointed with the dark reminder of humanity! Castlevania, while based on ...

**SPOILERS AHEAD** I was really looking forward to this show, as many people praised it. However, so many things that the show was acclaimed for, are the exact reasons why I hated watching it. Season 1 was promising, it was short, straight to the point. It did an amazing job at introducing the characters and the world. It piqued my curiosity and I needed to know more. I can’t say the same for the following seasons, as the biggest crime this show commits is telling you everything and not sh...
