The Good Doctor
Details
The relationship medical dramas establish with their audience is often built on urgency: sterile corridors, pounding hearts, a race against time. However, from time to time, a production comes along and places something completely different right in the middle of this formula: silence. Thought. A different way of perceiving the world through a different mind. This is precisely where The Good Doctor occupies a unique place. This American production, created by David Shore, may have been inspired by a Korean series, but it quickly found its own voice and maintained it for seven seasons. At the center of it all is Shaun Murphy, a young surgeon with autism and Savant Syndrome. Freddie Highmore's performance in this role is strong enough to carry the backbone of the production alone; he maintains the balance of both vulnerability and amazing intelligence in every scene. The series forces the viewer to work simultaneously on two different levels. On one hand, there is the tension of the operating room, difficult diagnoses, and moments that stand on the edge of human life. On the other hand, a much deeper, much more personal conflict: how does someone who is outside the form of humanity that society considers "competent" exist inside a cruel institutional structure? Shaun's approach to his patients is not ordinary; he connects details in ways that others cannot see, but in doing so he also constantly faces unexpected obstacles of the social world. This balance is the series' greatest strength and, at times, its most controversial aspect. Some parts rely on clichés, and some developments follow a predictable course. But The Good Doctor's real concern is never just medical cases. The questions of what empathy is, how far understanding extends, and whether difference is a handicap or a depth, never cease in the background. This production, set in hospital corridors but actually exploring a much broader human landscape, is the kind of drama that drama lovers can develop a long-lasting connection with. A warm story that blossoms in the cold and sterile hospital atmosphere of San Francisco; while watching it, you may feel both uneasy and filled with hope.

Started not bad at first & actually this show has pretty well developed characters that are memorable and you care about them, for example Dr. Glassman and of course the main character Shaun. The actor who plays him does amazing job. In short, it's a pretty decent show, but after season one, it gets deteriorated slowly by adding "woke" propaganda. And they also started making it more unrealistic, like healthy people marrying disabled people, dating crippled people or dating obese and ugly people...

The concept is there, but the same humdrum preachy wokeism that is killing Netflix starts seeping in pretty quickly. The first few episodes are engaging, with likable characters and creative scenarios. Unlikely medical conditions abound, but that has been a staple of medical series since the dawn of time. Unfortunately what's been another shoehorn into recent dramas is the push of political and social agendas that no one in the audience signed up for. By the beginning of the second series, there...

"The Good Doctor" (2011) is a compelling thriller that showcases Orlando Bloom as an unsettling, insecure doctor whose obsessive need to be admired leads him to dangerously sabotage a patient's recovery to keep her dependent on him. It’s a dark, slow-burn drama that offers a unique look at medical ethics and ego, even if it feels a bit unpolished
