Cobra Kai is not a sequel project that exists solely by leaning on nostalgia; on the contrary, it is a layered character saga that questions deep-rooted decay, resentments and whether second chances are possible. Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso. A man who bears the weariness of decades spent in the shadow of defeat and positions himself as someone the world doesn't understand. The other is someone who sits right on top of the social judgment that the winner should have peace of mind, but has still accumulated unresolved accounts under the apparent success. When the series places these two characters side by side, it actually poses a much deeper question to the audience: Who was truly right in the stories told to us? Karate is not just a martial art here; it's a metaphor. Dojos have become ideological factories, places where senseis pass on not only the techniques they teach their students but also their own traumas and resentments. While the young characters are on the stage as the new carriers of this century-old conflict, they are forced to shoulder the weight of a cultural heritage in the midst of their own search for identity. Cobra Kai's greatest achievement lies in never leaving the audience completely on a single side. In each episode, the perspective shifts and the character you sympathize with confronts you with something that challenges your understanding. This moral ambiguity takes the series far beyond a mere revenge or atonement story. Over the course of six seasons, the plot alternates between fast-paced action scenes and unexpected emotional pauses. William Zabka and Ralph Macchio deliver truly impressive performances as they reinterpret these characters with the maturity that comes with years of experience. The series ends with tension built around fathers and sons, teachers and students, and forgiveness and revenge, leaving behind questions worth asking. And this is the most reliable sign of a good narrative.

I didn't have many expectations going into this show, or at least, I didn't have high expectations. The ones I did have were that of a fun low budget trip down memory lane. But this is so much more than that. The production values are great, the casting is great, the plot, the writing, the tone, the pacing, acting, soundtrack. It's all great start to finish and it has what Mr. Miyagi taught us, balance. It seems to hit so many right notes without pushing anything too far, the comedy is just righ...

Quite bad. The fact that this is getting so much attention at the moment seems crazy to me. I've watched the first two seasons (with my GF) and I have to say that this whole thing is pretty embarrassing. I kind of enjoyed the first few episodes, because I thought it was being very tongue in cheek, but as the show progressed I started to realise it's just a bit shit. Shame.

I was a little nervous when the show first aired, but after watching the first season I got hooked...! It had some laughs and plenty of action. It was gritty in comparison to the film sequel. Series 2 started drawing the sand lines, so to speak, as we see there is no right or wrong, but a grey area. Then season 3 got even better! And the final episode...I was in awe! I didn't set out to watch Cobra Kai. In fact, my first reaction upon seeing the trailer for season one was to "cringe". It came across as a bad modern teen soap opera, that had hitched a ride with much older, martial arts franchise, from the 80's. Since then, I've been glad to have been proven "partly" wrong. This is another one of the shows I left IMDb over. I logged in, gave it a check, and all the reviews above 5 stars were gone. They don't want people to like it... ... and I understand why, Cobra Kai breaks all the rules. It respects the IP, and you aren't supposed to do that any longer. This is just such a terrible series it is hard to know how to cover it all in a brief review. At first it was slow but mildly interesting just because we remembered and liked the original movie. But the unbelievably stupid and childish behavior of the "adults" was so off-putting that I'm not sure why we even stuck with it.
