Squid Game
Details
Imagine people struggling to make ends meet, crushed under the weight of debt. One day, a mysterious invitation card they come across opens both a door to salvation and an extremely dangerous one for them. This South Korean production, written and directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk, has become one of the most talked about works in the history of television since the day it was broadcast; and it achieved this not by chance, but by touching the heart of humanity with the story it tells. Although Squid Game appears to be a surface-level survival thriller, it actually swims in much deeper waters. This contrast, which brings the innocent games of childhood together with the brink of death, plunges the viewer into both nostalgic discomfort and existential questioning. The games are familiar, the rules are simple; but the real danger lies in this simplicity. The fragility of human nature, the pushing of moral boundaries and how hope can push a person to make the most unexpected decisions are expertly handled in every scene. The series' power doesn't come solely from its tension. The characters portrayed by strong actors like Lee Jung-jae, Im Si-wan, Wi Ha-jun, and Lee Byung-hun establish a genuine connection with the audience. Each character has a unique background and a distinct desperation; this elevates the production far beyond an ordinary action series. Before asking who will win or who will survive, the following question comes to your mind: What would you be willing to risk to win? Developing a visually highly original language with its color palette, set design and music selections, the production uses this aesthetic not only to turn it into a show, but also to strengthen the theme. Questions such as the Declivity between wealth and poverty, how the system consumes the individual, how solidarity and betrayal can exist at the same time are being quietly processed in the background. The expanding universe over the course of three seasons answers some of the initial questions while posing new ones. Hwang Dong-hyuk's creative vision embodies the courage to say something genuine beyond popular culture. When you turn off the screen after watching, what remains in your mind is not just the games themselves, but the stories of the people who felt compelled to play those games.

Visually excellent, the dark broody streets of run down neighbourhoods contrasted with the pastel, immaculate high contrast world of the game, Superbly cast and acted, the characters are well written, their desperation made palpable and importantly, all too believable. Kept me invested throughout with episode 6 being one of my favourite and most emotionally resonant episodes of television I'd seen in a while. Goes a bit off the boil towards the end which was my least favourite part and almost ...

A perfect opening and great second episode , is let down by below average follow up episodes , which are unable to achieve the tensions or intrigue presented in earlier episodes. It may be masterpiece for those who have find death game genre through squid game, but the series death game personally didn't do much for me because I have expirenced the games and tension and political commentary from superior servings such as Kaiji and thousands of other death battle manga, Liar Game being the best ....

extremely disappointing idea theft So once there was "The most dangerous game" (you see "game" in the title?) where shipwreckes survivors are hunted by Count Zaroff and if they survive they're free. Then on the "survive or win" we have Cube, Saw, Death race, Hunger games, Battle royale (already the most ripped off in Squid Game, As the gods will (also extremely ripped off in Squid Game). So here the theme is the bleak today's world where a father can't keep a job and gain money for his family....

Whilst not an entirely original idea, "Squid Game" is done with enough inspiration, to warrant at least, a look. That said, it took me quite some time to tune in. The idea didn't immediately appeal to me, as it did a lot of other viewers. I found the first season, creative, colourful and more than little disturbing. Of course, children's games combined with murder, was never going to be comfortable mix. I do believe season one is markedly better than the second go around. Season two offe...

Season 1 was amazing. MY favorite show probably. I had made a costume within that month because Halloween was so close and costumes werent made yet. The 2nd season though was far from that. I give the first season a 95%. I give season 2 and 50%. maybe since the 2nd season is split in half and made into a 3rd by netflix, but the character building was not good. They were lazy and reused half the games. Just felt corney and rushed. Out of such an amazing 2nd season, they had so much they could hav...

**Squid Game (Season 1) is a gripping South Korean thriller that blends intense social commentary with pulse-pounding drama. The story follows 456 desperate contestants competing in deadly children’s games for a massive cash prize, exposing the brutal extremes of capitalism and human desperation. Hwang Dong-hyuk’s sharp writing and direction, paired with standout performances—especially Lee Jung-jae as the flawed Seong Gi-hun—create a visceral, emotionally charged experience. > You people are horses, horses at a racetrack. We bet on you. I'm going to be completely honest and say that I'm too attached to this damn show and it's characters that I cannot give it a rating below 80. I wouldn't say the show has perfect writing or pacing, but the highs are extremely high.
